It isn’t always easy to find time to be active! The last few months of my life have been jam packed! I’m talking busy from the second I wake up until I fall asleep which means squeezing in full workouts has been tough to say the least. But I’ve gotten creative and I’m here to share some of my favorite ways to squeeze movement into busy days by adding just a a bit of activity to my daily tasks!
- Walking meetings
- These are perfect for 1:1 meetings. I know there are occasions where you need your computers but walking meetings are perfect for those that you don’t need to spend in front of a screen. I walk during brainstorms, performance reviews or check ins, and even phone calls! Dive into a big topic and before you know it, you’ve squeezed a couple miles of walking in.
- Park in the back
- Chances are you’re hopping in your car to go somewhere everyday so here’s my advice to go along with that! Park as far away as you can, and stroll your butt all the way to the door you’re headed for. I know, it’s just a few minutes of movement but on a busy day with multiple stops, it adds up!
- Using a trigger
- When I don’t have time to squeeze a full on workout, I will set up some sort of trigger to do a few reps of an exercise. So, for example, every time I switch rooms from the time I get home until dinner, I’ll do 10 squats. You can use objects, time, sitting, standing, hulu commercials or anything you can think of as your trigger! Find something that happens multiple times, pick an exercise and you’re good to go!
- Speed Cleaning
- This is one of my favorites! We all know cleaning takes some elbow grease and a decent chunk of time. At our house, we get a bit behiind every few days so I do this fun little thing I call speed cleaning. I set a timer for 20-30 minutes and start cleaning like crazy. With a timer, you’re forced to work pretty fast and by the time my 30 minutes are up, I’ve usually worked up a sweat AND have a clean house!
There are, of course, TONS of ways to squeeze movement into your day! My tips: Get creative with it and be grateful for every chance you get to move!
Do you have a favorite way to squeeze movement into your busy days? I’m always looking for ways to add more into mine!
